Fall 2016

It's a Processor! - Sunday October 9th, 10:00AM-12:00PM
         Here's to the start of an exciting new venture with Wilbur Cross High School. Ventures in Science is partnering with Transcend Info, Gumstix, and other leading electronics companies to build computers from scratch. Using our own curriculum, we will be teaching students about digital logic and computer architecture. We are going to show the high school students how to build a computer! At the end of the program, we will donate the computers we have built to Wilbur Cross High School. 

 

Science on Saturdays - Saturday September 24th, 10:00AM-12:00PM @ Sterling Chemistry Lab

         Get ready for our first event of the year! Once again, Ventures in Science (ViS) teams up with the Yale Scientific Magazine to get kids interested in science. This time, we're using printer ink, vegetable oil, and a rare Earth metal to make ferrofluid. The result - equal parts science and art.

Speaker Event - Medical Innovation at Yale- Monday, November 17, 6:00-8:00PM @ WLH117
            Join us on Monday for the launch of our 2014-2015 speaker series!  We will be hosting an event with Dr. Jean Zheng, the engineering director at the Center for Biomedical and Interventional Technology (CBIT). She will be discussing medical innovation at Yale, focusing on the processes and resources for innovation.

 

Resonant Ventures - Saturday, November 2, 1:00-4:00PM @ TEAL Classroom

         On Saturday, Ventures in Science (ViS) teams up with the Yale Scientific Magazine at Resonance, the yearly science outreach conference for high school students in New Haven. ViS will be pioneering a program to introduce students to the scientific method through paper airplanes and candy!

            Engineering World Health is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare in hospitals serving communities in the developing world. EWH helps to install and repair medical equipment in these hospitals, builds a local capacity to maintain and manage equipment, and sends student biomedical engineers to help repair equipment on the ground in various countries
